HarNan Farms is owned and operated by Harry and Nancy Ogan with a focus on offering exquisite herds of
alpaca and bison bred from top bloodlines. Our genetics are impeccable with continuous refinements.

Our mission is to continue to build on excellence and integrity while improving the quality of our herds through
selective breeding, producing the best quality bison meat available and to provide you with service paramount
to none.  You know when you deal with HarNan Farms "our word is gold".  When you purchase from us, a life
long friendship is established. We will be there for you day or night and will commit to do everything we can to
enable your success. You will not be alone in this venture. Together WE will be successful.

HarNan farms was established in 2005 after Harry and Nancy retired from Nortel Networks where both worked
for more than 20 years.  The farm is located in south central Virginia only a short distance from Richmond, VA
and Raleigh, NC.

In 2007, our bison herd has grown from 30 to 35.  Our bison bull is starting make an impact on our genetic

diversity as his first calves arrived in the spring.  We are so excited about the award winning bloodline he is

bringing to our foundation herd.

Our alpaca herd has had many changes in 2007.   As we have had continued success with sales we have added

diverse bloodlines to our foundation herd to continually evolve our herd to meet the demands of the growing

industry.  We also participated in numerous alpaca shows which kept us burning the roads up in Virginia,

Pennsylvania, New York and Kentucky.  We had a good showing at every event continuing to bring home

the ribbons and feel confident about our breeding decisions.

Many people know bison as buffalo while the correct name is the American Bison.   On the other hand many
people are not familiar with alpaca at all.  They are a member of the camelid family (camel, llama and alpaca)
and originate from South America, i.e., Peru, Chile and Bolivia.

For both animals our goal is to raise quality breeding stock but both have secondary purposes. The bison for
meat production and by-products such as clothing from the fiber, leather from the hides and of course the
demand for shoulder mounts.   The alpaca for their fleece which is used to make clothing (anything from sweaters
to wedding gowns), yarns and home decor items.   Both animals are ruminants (like a cow) and offer unique
attributes while sharing a common factor..their luxurious fiber.  The main difference is you don't eat alpaca!

We are proud members of National Bison Association, Alpaca Breeders and Owners Association,
ARI Alpaca Registry, Inc., MAPACA Mid-Atlantic Alpaca Association and VAOBA Virginia Alpaca
and Owners Association.
